Diversion: (Welcome new followers)…

Greetings to anyone who has followed this blog in the last couple of weeks or so, it’s good to have you aboard.

The only trouble is, this is no longer an active site and, although I’m delighted that you chose to follow me, you really need to head on over to my lovely new home at Return of the Internet Nobody.

There you’ll find the same mix of regular features and random musings, all in a shiny new layout.

I knew the switchover to my new site, (combined with mapping my old domain name from here to there) would cause some initial confusion, so I’m not surprised a few of you missed the announcement, for which I apologise.

So please go ahead and use the link above to join me at my new location, where normal service has already resumed.

Thanks for you time and I hope to see you all over there soon.

Cosmic Photo prompt…

On time once again for the Friday prompt, to give you some guidance for the next edition of K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge, which is using my choice of theme this week; Birds and bees.

Anything with wings will do, bugs and bats are just as acceptable, so let your imagination soar and seek out some avian and insectile inspiration for Monday’s post.

*****

To get involved with the challenge, post a photo to your blog on Monday, add a pingback to this post (or to K’lee’s) and don’t forget to tag your post #CosPhoChal. Alternatively, add a link to your blog in the comments of either mine or K’lee’s post and we’ll come and check out your entry. Any and all effects, editing, Photoshop, Instagram, morphing, collages or whatever other post production techniques you fancy are permitted, (in fact, they’re actively encouraged!) so get creative and turn your photos into artworks for the Cosmic Photo Challenge. #CosPhoChal

#atozchallenge: D is for Dugpa…

Today’s Lynchian episode of the #atozchallenge and the third entry in my B-Z of Twin Peaks is one of the most bizarre, but despite that it’s something that has a solid basis in fact.

A Dugpa, (or Drukpa) from what I understand after a very interesting hour of research, is a 12th century Tibetan guru, scholar or spiritual leader which you might think unlikely for inclusion in a tv show set in Washington State, even given Agent Cooper’s obvious fascination with Tibet.

But in the context of Twin Peaks, the role of the Dugpa is a lot harder to pin down.

They appear to be “magicians” who have forfeited their humanity in order to learn the secrets of the mysterious, possibly supernatural, inter-dimensional White and Black Lodges, from which both good and evil spirits may cross into our reality, sometimes whilst inhabiting mortal bodies.

It’s unclear who the Dugpas might be, or if they are even portrayed as conventional characters, (in so much as any Lynch creations can be considered “conventional”) but Windom Earle is convinced that they could be the key to the all-powerful Black Lodge.

One possible Dugpa sighting is during one of the many strange visions experienced by various characters (although my own personal guru and font of all things Twin Peaks, Christian Hartleben, thinks it unlikely they have any direct influence over events) and it appears like this:

The Haggle

The Haggle

A romantic theme and an exotic setting for my final reblog today, from The Tavern Thoughts…

thetavernthoughts

The phone begins to ring at night. He can hear the rain pelt on the window sill. He knows it is not a normal call. It is an emergency. It’s weird how emergencies tend to happen at night. It was almost stereotypical. Rainy night and a damsel in distress. Rohit Mehta is smiling ear to ear. This is his moment and he knows it. He lets the phone ring for a while patiently. Eventually the phone stops ringing but he does not care because he knows she will call him again soon. Almost on cue the mobile starts ringing again.

“Hello” he says softly after a pause.

“Rohit!” She exclaimed relieved.

“Breath Meera. Take a deep breath” The sobbing begins.

Meera walks out of the gate her mobile clutched tightly in her hands. The rain pelting on her makes her skin glow despite the gloomy mood. Tears roll down her…

K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge…

Hello there, happy new year to you all, on this final day before I have to return to work (my sympathy to those of you who are already back in harness) and welcome to the first post of 2017 in K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge.

This week’s challenge, set by K’lee, is especially apposite, given the symbolic renewal inherent in the ushering in of a new year; Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow.

Now I’m assuming that, unless you invented time travel over the Christmas holidays, none of you have managed to get any photos of tomorrow, but I’ve stuck as closely to the brief as the laws of physics allow.

I’ve taken three photos of the same tree; one on Friday afternoon (broken cloud, blue sky), one on Saturday night (dark, obviously) and one yesterday morning, (misty, grey sky) all of which I’ve layered over each other in different directions, giving the following results…

…and if that isn’t enough for you, here’s the remix:

Pretty good, huh?

K’lee’s post for the day is HERE, but now let’s see what you came up with…

Reblog: Auditioning for Ghostbusters

Lanthie is halfway through her treatment for throat cancer. Please head over to Lump, What Lump? and give her some love, thanks….

Lump, what lump?

I am halfway through my treatment today.

I have another 2 chemo Sessions and 15 radiation sessions left. So here’s an update about how I feel.

Last chemo Session was Wednesday last week. I know I feel off on a Thursday and Friday. Then by Saturday evening I start feeling good again.

However I had a sudden loss of appetite. As in I am not in the least bit hungry. and had no food for 4 days.

This topped by having a HUGE amount of mucosa in my mouth. To the extent that before I can talk to you I need to have a spitting session into a glass first. It’s horrible. It’s thick like slime. I could audition for a part as one of the ghosts in Ghostbusters – no special effects required.

So the combination of me not eating and the mucosa had me at the doctors on…

Reblog: Is my mouth compromised?

Update on Lanthie and her journey…

Lump, what lump?

Feeling a bit better today. My face is still black and blue. My throat is sore. I am very aware of the lump in my throat and can feel it all the time.

My lips are better but still very dry. Been applying cream faithfully.

Tired of the jaw ache and related sinus headache all the time. Not in pain but the ache is constant and wearing on me.

Saw the Butcher yesterday. He was very pleased with how my mouth was healing. I was hoping to never see him again. But he politely told me we would become best friends over the next 3-6 months. I would be seeking his help with sores and ulcers in my mouth and throat.

That got me thinking- it’s a week since my mouth surgery. I can’t remember feeling good. Will it heal in time for the radiation to just destroy it again?…

Cosmic Photo redux…

In the spirit of sharing, here for your deliberation, is a post from my photo-blog, Photo Sans Frontiers, a reflection on this week’s challenge…

Images Of An Internet Nobody

I was rather pleased with the results oftoday’s editionof K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge, especially since I used very little in the way of actual effects to produce the pictures that I posted, just a bit of tweaking.

However, due to my inability to leave a good image un-mucked about with, I’d now like to present my Cosmic Photo redux;a foil, if you will, to the six crinkly offerings from this morning.

Hold onto your eyeballs…

K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge…

img_20160318_210825-picsay.jpgIt’s Monday, which must mean that it’s time for cosmic photography.

This week, it was K’lee’s turn to pick the theme and he came up with this;

“FAST CARS

This could be any type of fast car your imagination brings to the surface of your consciousness – you decide, you create…for the ‘K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge’ “

Well, I drive a Nissan Micra, (not the sportiest of cars, although I love it) so I was never going to do a convincing job of crowbarring that into this post, but I thought of a way of suggesting how fast some cars were going, even if I was restricted to picking them at random as they drove past.

So here is my offering for today; I attempted (with varying degrees of success) to capture the traffic as it sped past the layby I was sitting in on the way home from working overtime on Saturday morning, then I layered the shots over each other to give this time-lapse effect…

New Starship Gypsies post: 21. Coming Home

The collaborative space opera continues, with a new episode on Starship Gypsies from Jerry (with a little editing by yours truly)…

Starship Gypsies

image

Tori couldn’t believe she was stranded AGAIN. It was like deja vu; for her and the rest of the Zapp family, it brought back the feelings of helplessness and isolation of their experiences in the escape pods. At least this time, they had the crew of the crippled ship, The Three Zees, to keep them company and they could all wait in the dim light together and hope for rescue. They were into their third day since the explosion now and talk amongst the crew about possible damage to the ship and of their hopes and dreams for the future had given way to more practical matters. Like how to stay warm and conserve their rapidly dwindling air supply, and what the probable chances of rescue actually were. After the early realization that three crew members had been outside the ship during the accident, there was no further discussion…
