Sound and vision…

First forays.

I’ve decided to add a separate page to display my efforts at animation and attempts at musical experimentation, instead of interspersing the blog with bursts of audio-visual oddness.

I’ll begin by replacing the recent musical post which, along with the other examples of electronic fiddling, were all created on the u-loops app on my phone, PocketBand.

They are all being uploaded to my soundcloud page, but I’ll post individual links to them here.

This is my personal favourite so far, Superlooper.

In an earlier post, since deleted, I posted YouTube links to some stop-frame animation that I made, also on a phone application, this one called Clayframes.
I think I can now upload them directly to this page,
Turns out I can’t upload video directly to this page, so I’ll have to use YouTube links. I’ll post some earlier ones now, and when I get around to doing any further projects, they will join them.

This is one I did a while ago, it doesn’t have a title but I’m rather fond of it nonetheless.

Watch this!

Initially, I thought to add a soundtrack to this frenzied little scene, but trying it with one of my loop experiments that I’d already made was unsatisfactory, so I’ll wait until I can come up with an original piece for it.

This is the music that I tried dubbing it with. It was quite amusing, but the film is too short to encapsulate the whole of the tune’s galloping lunacy.
So I present it here in it’s entirety.

Ladies and gentlemen, Unhinged Melody.

One video that I did manage to get soundtracked very successfully, with the assistance of the deeply filthy and fabulous Ludwig Hiscariot, was one named (after his music for it) Candle Dance.

One last tune for this inaugural post on my new page.
This is slightly darker I suppose you’d say, but it was one of the earliest that I tried doing and melody was a minor consideration when you could make such great noises.

I named this one Loopcore.

Hope you find something to amuse you amongst that lot. More to come, watch this space…

After setting up this page yesterday, I was inspired to go back to my loop maker and muck about with a sample that I had snipped out of the excellent Motorway City by Hawkwind. Not that you’d recognise it, now that I’ve turned five seconds of the intro, amongst other things, into this short choral piece.

The Lodge

A more rhythm-based sound on this one, which I’m calling Spyral

After this one, I’m going to try a slightly less percussive style.
In the meantime, here’s Bubbble.

New animation

I decided to have a go at some more animation today.
Here’s a brief tale of a little critter, (who you may recognize from a previous clip) coming to the aid of some fruit in distress.

Check out Satsuma rescue.

Animation Megamix!
This is a compilation of my earlier film experiments, – with assistance from Guy Thair – set to the same deranged tune.
Ladies and gentlemen, Unhinged Menagerie.

New experiment, this one called simply,

New animation.
Inspired by Tony Hart’s marvellous Morph, this is a little film called Blu.

Here’s a slightly new direction. A less percussive, more trancey number that I’ve called Klone.

First new tune in a while. Composed a few weeks ago now, but only just got round to adding it to the blog.
It’s back to the drums with Snairz

Just because I fancied mucking about after doing my impromptu Golden Face Palms animation, I made this little gem.
I call it Foil.

The tune I composed for Ho’s birthday, Hodown is here in all its majesty for your enjoyment.

Experiments with kaleidoscopics.

And audio only, chill out krautrock-inspired, psychedelic jam….

Here’s a chilled little tune that I made to mark the end of Just Jot It January, I called it Janjot
