Light morphing…

Cosmic Photo redux…

Photo Sans Frontiers

For one of my recent contributions to the weeklyCosmic Photo Challenge onDiary of an Internet Nobody,I capturedsome car light trails and today I decided to use them for another abstract art experiment.

The glowing nature of the original images made for excellent source material, resulting in some rather awesome light sculptures, I hope you like them.

Well, I’ve got to find something to do on my day off.

K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge…

Welcome to another new week and another new edition of K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge, the theme of which was set by K’lee on Friday and he asked you to come up with one photo from the daytime and two from the night.

I went for a straightforward black and white shot for my daylight option, snapped in the garden over the weekend, followed by a couple I took last night, from above and next to a road respectively, using a long exposure to capture the trails of car lights.

Cat tail…

…to car trails; first seen from a flyover…

…and then reflected in the side of my car

K’lee’s photo is HERE, so go and check it out, then show us what you have to offer.

Update: Bonus photo – This is what it looks like if you stick a camera to your windscreen and drive around town in the dark for half an hour with a long exposure…

To get involved with the challenge, post a photo to your blog on Monday, add a pingback to this post (or to K’lee’s) and don’t forget to tag your post #CosPhoChal.

Alternatively, add a link to your blog in the comments of either mine or K’lee’s post and we’ll come and check out your entry.
Any and all effects, editing, Photoshop, Instagram, morphing, collages or whatever other post production techniques you fancy are permitted, (in fact, they’re actively encouraged!) so get creative and turn your photos into artworks for the Cosmic Photo Challenge.

More experiments with light painting…

Rainbows and glitter from Photo Sans Frontiers…

Photo Sans Frontiers

Having found Audrey’s colour changing glitter lamps useful for making the gif in this week’s Cosmic Photo Challenge, I decided to see what sort of images I could get by using them for light painting.

So last night I shut myself in a dark room for half an hour and these gloriously vibrant creations are the result…

(Yes, I know the “y” is backwards, I got confused, ok.)

K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge…

Ok, this is it; the first day of a new feature on Diary of an Internet Nobody, in association with my good friend, K’lee at Obzervashunal.

From now on, Mondays are Cosmic Photo Challenge day!

Each week, K’lee and I will be posting an artistic photographic creation which falls outside the scope of mere “photography” and strays into the more ephemeral sphere of “art”, (however you choose to define that elusive term) using whatever effects, techniques or general mucking about that floats our collective boat.

We will each post on our blogs with links supplied, to enable you to check out both offerings each time.

We would also love you all to get involved in making this an interactive feature.
All you need to do is add a post to your blog, entitled “K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge”, post your artistic creation and then execute a pingback, either back here, or to Obzervashunal, so all our lovely readers can come and see your work.
You can even use the bespoke badge at the top of this post if you so wish.

I decided to go with a collage for my first attempt, using elements of these images…

…a combination of straight photos, light painting experiments and a composite picture, which resulted in this, today’s Cosmic Photo:

You can see K’lee’s contribution BY CLICKING THIS LINK.

So, let’s get this feature started: over to you, my wonderfully creative friends…

Experiments in light painting…

Time to play with one of the gadgets on my new phone’s camera; the “light painting” setting.
This allows me to use an open exposure to pick up light trails from car headlights, star trails tracking across the sky, or just me, mucking about with torches, glowing stars and cooker clocks (no, really) to create oddly beautiful photographic light sculptures.

Check it out, man.

Knowing me as I do, I’m sure I’ll be practicing with this over the weekend and you’ll probably be seeing further experiments in due course.
