Talking books…

Yes, it’s time once again to plug The Wrong Stuff, my debut novel, a duty I admit I’ve been neglecting of late, due to the fact that life gets in the way sometimes and it just hasn’t been a priority.

I couldn’t even tell you how many copies I’ve sold, because my publisher is considerably less forthcoming than I’d like with such information and I doubt I’ll be staying with them when my contracted year is up.
Having said that, I’ll take quality over quantity at this point and I’m happy to say that all the reviews on Amazon so far have been very good indeed, even from total strangers.

All of which is very encouraging, as is the fact that other writers are still interested enough to ask me about the creation of my accidental novel; bringing me to the latest online interview, posted yesterday by C.J. Rose on her website.

And here, in case you missed it, is the blurb, the links and some of those rave reviews:

The Wrong Stuff, a totally improvised novel, uniquely created from writing prompts with no edits.

“Hannah Meredith has always had a good eye and she’s a veteran bargain hunter, but she isn’t prepared, when she buys the box marked “Stuff” at a mysterious auction, for her world to suddenly unravel into a series of increasingly bizarre and terrifying events.

Soon on the run from a sinister cabal of vengeful corporate villains and their homicidal henchmen, Hannah must foil an evil plan to bring the world to the brink of global economic collapse, all the while keeping one step ahead of her pursuers.

A fast-moving thriller with a sci-fi twist, the plot stretches from chases through grimy backstreets of Victorian London back to the present day, where sudden violence shatters the tranquility of the English countryside.

Following Hannah and her unlikely allies in their frantic attempt to stay alive and save the world from disaster, The Wrong Stuff is exciting and original, with more than a touch of black humour.”

Quality, not quantity…

Quality, not quantity…

In case you’d forgotten, I’ve written a novel.
It’s a really good one, too; at least so I’m told by those who have actually read it (although my mum did ring me the other day to complain about the swearing) and I am still very chuffed at seeing my work in print…

…But, (you could see that coming, couldn’t you?) it is very frustrating, waiting for sales to take off, especially when I know it deserves a bigger audience. So I’ve been plugging away at it on social media, doing as many interviews as I can and trying to find more ways to promote The Wrong Stuff for free.
I’ve had plenty of positive comments from friends and family, which is very gratifying and I have yet to receive any bad feedback on Amazon, so I’m confident that the quality of the writing is up to scratch, it’s just the numbers that are letting me down.

Here are the two latest reviews…

…both of which I’m very pleased with so if that was you, thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed it, I will get to work on the sequel soon, honest.

What I’m trying to say is, forgive me if I continue to bang on about my accidental novel with monotonous regularity, but you have the power to make it stop:

Interview: Deano’s Grill…

Today I’m pleased to share with you an interview I did for James D Mortain a few weeks ago.
The format of the interview itself was very novel, (no pun intended) given that it was carried out by a fictional detective called Andrew ‘Deano’ Deans and he gave me a gentle but thorough grilling about The Wrong Stuff and writing in general.

Please hop over via the link below, check out our chat and have a look round at his site.

Treat yourself…

One of the most useful gifts you can receive these days are Amazon vouchers, because there are so many things to spend them on; my book, for instance.

The Wrong Stuff is now available in both paperback and Kindle editions, so why not avail yourself of a post-Christmas treat and make me a happy man into the bargain.

Just in case you have managed to miss hearing about it until now, here is everything you need to know about my literary debut:

The Wrong Stuff: Book launch…

The day has finally arrived!

My debut novel (that still seems like a weird thing to see written down) is published today and I am, not to put too fine a point on it, Very VERY EXCITED!!!

Yes, my accidental novel, The Wrong Stuff, a mystery thriller with a sci-fi twist and occasional flashes of black humour, is released today on Amazon in paperback (Kindle version to follow soon) and will also be available from Barnes and Noble in a couple of weeks.

**********************

UK AMAZON LINK IS HERE.

EVERYONE ELSE, GO HERE.

**********************

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank a few people, for putting me on the road that lead me to this extraordinary and surreal point in my blogging journey:

The sickeningly talented Mr Darmon Richter, who inspired me to take up the hobby of thinking up stuff and writing it down in the first place.

The wonderful Linda G Hill, who is largely responsible for me getting into writing fiction, due to her excellent Stream of consciousness Saturday feature.

Catherine Broughton, who was instrumental in my first short stories being published in various anthologies.

Anna Trowbridge from ATLA publishing, to whom I eventually submitted the manuscript for my book.

To you, my charming, intelligent, discerning and incredibly good-looking readers, without whom I would just have been another weirdo on the internet talking to himself; thank you for all your encouragement and support over the last four years or so, it just keeps on getting more fun every time I post.

And last but absolutely not least, my beautiful wife, Rhonda, who has said nice things about my writing for as long as I’ve known her (even when she was thousands of miles away and didn’t have to) and who has now put up with me in person for two years, without going completely mad.
Frankly, she deserves a medal.

So, with Christmas just around the corner….Oh, you get the idea;

Please Buy My Book!

Thank you for your attention.
